Producing the wine

The traditional Hospices de Beaune wine auction always takes place in the afternoon of the third Sunday in November and covers all forty-one cuvées.

 The results

Over the last few years, the results of the wine auction have varied considerably from year to year, from 1,83 million €uros - for the least fruitful harvests - to 5,18 million €uros - for the best..

The profits made by the Hospices vary between 0,76 to 2,88 million €uros.

What are the profits used for ?

The profits from the wine auction, collected each year, are entirely consecrated to the modernisation of medical equipment, improvements in the comfort of installations and the conservation of the historical heritage.
Since 1993 they are also used to finance a medical reception unit for the most destitute, opened in the centre of the town for all those who refuse to go to hospital or to see a doctor, and for whom a better-adapted environment had to be created, in the spirit of Nicolas Rolin, in other words actively to reach out to those who live on the margins of our society.
